A brush fire erupted in the hills above the UC Berkeley campus on Tuesday, damaging a home and prompting a response from multiple fire agencies. The fire was first reported at 11:45 a.m. and quickly grew to consume a quarter-acre of vegetation by noon.
Fire crews from Oakland Fire, Berkeley Fire, East Bay Regional Park District, and CAL FIRE were engaged in battling the blaze. The fire appears to be centered at 1001 Panoramic Way, an address associated with the closed property known as Skyfall Estate.
Oakland fire officials confirmed to ABC News that the fire had spread to a nearby home, causing visible damage. The incident occurred on the anniversary of the 1991 Oakland firestorm, a devastating event that ravaged the Berkeley-Oakland hills.
