Bruce Blakeman Recalls Being Teased by Paul McCartney Over Missed Concerts

Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Blakeman recounted a time when his ex-wife's husband, Paul McCartney, playfully "roasted" him for declining repeated invitations to his concerts. Blakeman, the current Nassau County Executive, told The Post that the legendary Beatle teased him for not attending shows, despite the easy accessibility of venues like the Nassau Coliseum.

"Paul then performed at the Nassau Coliseum. He invited me to come and said, ‘You have no excuse,'" Blakeman said. He added, "I went to the show. I was a fan before he met Nancy."

Blakeman, 71, explained that scheduling conflicts were the reason he missed McCartney's invitations. He stated that he and McCartney, 84, remain on good terms, and McCartney is a "good stepfather to my son, Arlen." McCartney married Blakeman's ex-wife, Nancy Shevell, in 2011.

Despite their personal connection, Blakeman and McCartney maintain separate political views. McCartney is known for his climate change activism and criticism of former President Trump, while Blakeman is a Trump supporter. Blakeman received an endorsement from Trump, who referred to him as "100% MAGA."

Blakeman, a native of Long Island, is challenging incumbent Democrat Gov. Kathy Hochul in the upcoming November election. He met Shevell while attending Arizona State University, and they remained together for 23 years before an amicable divorce in 2009.

Blakeman also shared details about his current marriage to Nassau County Family Court judge, Segal Magori. He recalled proposing to her in Israel with a surprise engagement party near the Western Wall, which she accepted after 11 years of marriage.
