Browns Rookie KC Concepcion Suffers Head Injury After Hit By Jets' Minkah Fitzpatrick
Concepcion was ruled out of Sunday's game after a hard hit in the first quarter.
Cleveland Browns wide receiver KC Concepcion Jr. was sidelined with a head injury on Sunday following a forceful hit from New York Jets safety Minkah Fitzpatrick. The incident occurred in the first quarter as the Browns were driving in Jets territory.
Quarterback Deshaun Watson attempted to connect with Concepcion on a pass when Fitzpatrick delivered a hit from behind. The impact drew flags from multiple officials and caused Concepcion to remain on the field for medical attention. Trainers attended to the rookie receiver, who eventually walked off the field under his own power and went directly to the locker room. He was subsequently ruled out for the remainder of the game.
This was not the only penalty involving Fitzpatrick on the drive. Earlier, after a completion to Concepcion, Fitzpatrick was called for unsportsmanlike conduct for ripping off Concepcion's helmet, which resulted in a facemask penalty.
The Jets' defense managed to hold the Browns to a field goal following the penalties. Andre Szmyt kicked a 25-yard field goal to give the Jets a 7-3 lead late in the first quarter.
Concepcion, a first-round draft pick in April, had recorded 17 catches for 144 yards entering Sunday's contest.
