Browns' Late Field Goal Spoils Rodgers' Final Thursday Night Game, Secures Third Straight Win
Cleveland defeats the Pittsburgh Steelers 27-24, with Deshaun Watson leading a game-winning drive.
The Cleveland Browns secured their third consecutive victory on Thursday night, defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers 27-24 in what was anticipated as Aaron Rodgers' final Thursday Night Football appearance.
Deshaun Watson led the Browns' offense, completing a 268-yard passing performance with one touchdown. The win also extended Cleveland's winning streak over their AFC North rivals to seven games. The Steelers, quarterbacked by Rodgers, struggled to maintain momentum, ultimately falling to 0-10 in road games against AFC North opponents.
Rodgers finished the game with 299 passing yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions in the Steelers' loss. He entered the night one victory shy of Tom Brady's record for most Thursday night wins.
After the Steelers tied the game at 24 with an eight-play, 80-yard fourth-quarter drive, the Browns responded with a seven-play possession. Watson guided Cleveland into field-goal range, and kicker Andre Szmyt sealed the victory with a 56-yard kick.
The game marked the 150th all-time meeting between the Browns and Steelers. Watson's performance has positioned him as an early candidate for NFL comeback player of the year. The Browns now hold first place in the AFC North.
Both teams will have extra rest before their Week 5 matchups. The Browns will travel to face the New York Jets, while the Steelers will host the Indianapolis Colts on October 11.
