Brooks Koepka has described his first year back on the PGA Tour as "pretty pathetic" after failing to qualify for the FedExCup Playoffs. His T67 finish at the Wyndham Championship, 19 strokes behind the winner, secured his 94th position in the FedExCup standings, falling short of the top 70 needed to advance.
Koepka, who rejoined the PGA Tour this year after a stint with LIV Golf, expressed candid disappointment with his performance. "To be in the prime of your career and be as good as I think I am, I think that’s very pathetic, disappointing," he stated, as reported by Yahoo Sports.
Despite the self-criticism, Koepka's season included making 11 cuts in 16 starts. His best finish was a tie for 9th at the Cognizant Classic in March, with a tie for 12th at The Masters in April also noted. Koepka, however, felt his play declined after these initial strong showings.
He acknowledged the financial implications of his return to the PGA Tour, noting he missed out on an estimated $85 million in potential earnings from LIV Golf and is ineligible for the $100 million FedExCup bonus program for the 2026 season. Despite these challenges, Koepka affirmed his happiness with being back on the PGA Tour, citing positive reception and overall contentment.
Looking ahead, Koepka plans to compete in DP World Tour events in Europe. He identified putting as a key area for improvement, stating, "It’s just all on the greens... I don’t know what the deal is. [I’ve] got zero confidence, can’t putt. I don’t know."
President Donald Trump was noted to be in attendance at a LIV Golf event at his Trump National Golf Club Washington D.C. in Sterling, Virginia, during this period.
