Brooklyn Jogger Stabbed in Random Attack Remembered as Family-Oriented Bank Teller
Neighbors describe Katie Suarez, 28, as kind and professional following a fatal assault on a popular waterfront promenade.
A 28-year-old woman, identified as Katie Suarez, was declared brain dead on Saturday after being stabbed in the neck in a seemingly random attack while jogging on a Brooklyn waterfront promenade Friday night. Neighbors remembered Suarez as a "family oriented" woman who worked as a bank teller.
"She was a very professional, very kind" woman with "very good character," one neighbor told The Post. Another described her as a "soft spoken girl, very nice." The attack occurred near Bay 17th Street and Shore Parkway in Bath Beach around 8 p.m. Friday.
Police sources stated that Suarez's father discovered her on the path when he went to look for her. She was transported to NYU Langone Hospital in critical condition before being pronounced brain dead.
Neighbors expressed shock and sadness over the incident, with one calling it "terrible" and another lamenting, "It's a mad world."
