Brooklyn Beckham Responds to Pasta Video Criticism with 'Friends' Meme
Aspiring chef Brooklyn Beckham fired back at online critics who called his latest pasta dish 'vile' and accused him of 'burning' the food.
Brooklyn Beckham responded with a feisty 'Friends' meme after his latest cooking video, featuring spaghetti all'assassina, drew sharp criticism from fans. The aspiring chef, 27, faced accusations that his dish looked "vile" and that he was a "spaghetti murderer."
The dish, which is traditionally cooked directly in a sauce and gradually absorbs broth, similar to risotto, instead of being boiled in water, led to a barrage of negative comments. Some followers claimed the pasta was not cooked properly and resembled "burnt pasta with jar sauce."
Beckham took to his Instagram Stories to address the backlash, stating, "For all the lovely comments about me always burning my food this pasta is suppose to be burnt sooooooo." He also shared a meme of Ross Geller from the show 'Friends' making a 'friendly middle finger' gesture, a more polite version of the rude hand sign.
Some commenters defended Beckham, with one noting that the specific method of cooking the pasta directly in the pan is intended to give it a charred taste. Others praised his cooking, with one writing, "It looks delish. Heck w the haters/food snobs. loved watching you cook and I'll give this one a try."
This is not the first time Beckham's culinary efforts have faced public scrutiny. Earlier in the summer, a video of him making a protein pizza garnered criticism. The previous month, he faced backlash for using seawater to cook pasta during a trip on a luxury yacht.
Beckham's father, David Beckham, is also known for his interest in cooking, having completed a culinary course in Italy. In 2013, he told The Times that he learned to make authentic ragu and fresh pasta and was particularly focused on mastering risotto.
The article also touches on Brooklyn Beckham's estranged relationship with his family, referencing a statement he released in January accusing them of attempting to ruin his wedding to Nicola Peltz and control him under the "brand Beckham" name. He has not been seen with his parents or siblings since.
