Brooklyn Beckham recently celebrated the 84th birthday of his father-in-law, Nelson Peltz, in Florida, attending a family party where he was seen wearing matching cowboy hats with his wife Nicola Peltz's family. The event occurred amidst ongoing public speculation about a rift between Beckham and his own parents, David and Victoria Beckham.

In a statement, Brooklyn Beckham addressed these rumors, asserting that he has been the subject of manipulation and control by his parents for much of his life. He claims his parents have consistently controlled narratives in the press and engaged in "performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships" to maintain a public facade. Beckham stated that he has "made every effort to keep these matters private" but felt compelled to speak out due to continuous media reports.

Beckham detailed several incidents he claims illustrate his parents' alleged attempts to control him and his relationship with Nicola Peltz. He stated that weeks before his wedding, his parents allegedly pressured and attempted to bribe him into signing away the rights to his name. He also recounted an incident where his mother allegedly cancelled Nicola Peltz's wedding dress design at the last minute. According to Beckham, during the wedding planning, his mother also called Nicola "evil" for including his Nanny Sandra and Nicola's grandmother at their table.

Further allegations include members of his family telling him the night before the wedding that Nicola was "not blood" and "not family." Beckham also claims his mother "hijacked" his first dance with his wife at the wedding, replacing it with a dance with him in front of guests. He stated that his wife has been "consistently disrespected" by his family.

Beckham also described efforts to connect with his father, David Beckham, which he claims were rebuffed unless it was a large, public event. He stated that an attempt to see his father one-on-one was conditional on Nicola not being invited. He further alleged that when his family traveled to Los Angeles, they refused to see him at all.

Beckham stated that his family prioritizes "public promotion and endorsements above all else," and that "Brand Beckham comes first." He claims that family affection is determined by social media posts or participation in photo opportunities, even at the expense of professional obligations. He cited an instance where his mother refused to support a cause for displaced dogs during the LA fires at his wife's request.

He concluded by refuting the narrative that his wife controls him, stating instead that he has been controlled by his parents, which led to "overwhelming anxiety." Since stepping away from his family, he claims this anxiety has disappeared, and he has found peace and relief. Beckham expressed a desire for a life free from "image, press, or manipulation," seeking only "peace, privacy and happiness for us and our future family."
