Brooklyn Beckham has publicly accused his parents, David and Victoria Beckham, of attempting to control media narratives surrounding him and his family, and of sabotaging his relationships, particularly with his wife, Nicola Peltz.
In a detailed statement, Beckham asserted that his parents have manipulated press coverage for years to preserve their public image, often at the expense of others. He stated that he has remained silent for an extended period, making efforts to keep private matters out of the public eye, but felt compelled to speak out against what he described as "lies that have been printed."
Beckham claimed his parents have continuously tried to undermine his relationship since before his wedding. He alleged that his mother cancelled the design of Nicola Peltz's wedding dress at the last minute, forcing her to find an alternative. He also described pressure and alleged bribery attempts from his parents in the weeks leading up to his wedding, urging him to sign away rights to his name, which he stated would have impacted his wife and future children.
He further recounted incidents from his wedding, including his mother allegedly calling his wife "evil" for their seating arrangement choices and family members telling him that Peltz was "not blood" and "not family" the night before the ceremony. Beckham stated that since he began asserting himself with his family, he has faced constant attacks, both privately and publicly, which he claims were orchestrated by his parents and disseminated to the press.
According to Beckham, his mother also hijacked his first dance at the wedding, replacing a planned romantic song with an impromptu dance with him in front of guests, which he described as "inappropriately" done and deeply humiliating.
Beckham also alleged that his wife has been consistently disrespected by his family and that his mother has intentionally invited women from his past into their lives to cause discomfort. He described instances where his parents allegedly refused to see him or his wife for extended periods, including a visit to London for his father's birthday where he claims they were rejected for a week. When his father eventually agreed to meet, it was reportedly under the condition that Peltz not be invited.
He stated that his family values public promotion and endorsements above all else, and that "Brand Beckham" takes precedence over family affection, which he suggested is determined by social media posts or willingness to pose for photographs.
Beckham also claimed that despite his and his wife's efforts to support his family's endeavors, including attending fashion shows and press events, his mother refused a request from Peltz to help rescue displaced dogs during the LA fires.
Contrary to narratives suggesting his wife controls him, Beckham asserted that he has been controlled by his parents for most of his life, leading to overwhelming anxiety. He stated that this anxiety has disappeared since he distanced himself from his family, and that he now wakes up grateful for the life he has chosen, finding peace and relief. He concluded by stating that he and his wife do not desire a life dictated by image, press, or manipulation, but rather seek peace, privacy, and happiness for their future family.
