Brooke Baldwin Says Megyn Kelly's False Claims Led to Emotional and Financial Distress

Brooke Baldwin has stated she cried privately after Megyn Kelly allegedly "slut-shamed" her with a false accusation that she had slept with four men. The former CNN anchor, 47, revealed the emotional and financial repercussions of their public dispute in her latest Substack newsletter.

Baldwin wrote that the experience of another woman publicly spreading a false account of her sex life was particularly distressing. "While I was in it — that horrible weekend this summer and the days after — my tears in private weren’t really about me," Baldwin wrote. "They were about that. That a woman did this. Falsely. Publicly. Slut-shamed me."

The fallout from Kelly's comments, Baldwin claims, continued to have a significant impact, leading to substantial expenses as she sought to defend herself. "Her lie kept multiplying — a lie about choices with my own body that I never even made," Baldwin stated. "And it cost me tens of thousands of dollars to defend a version of myself that never existed."

The conflict began in July when Kelly dedicated a segment of "The Megyn Kelly Show" to a candid Substack entry by Baldwin discussing dating and sex. In the entry, Baldwin detailed opportunities to sleep with four men, but explicitly stated she had turned them all down. Kelly, however, told her audience that Baldwin's "work and her mission include banging four men in a month."

Kelly later acknowledged that her team had not read Baldwin's full Substack post, which was behind a paywall, stating, "Well, as it turns out, we should have paid to read the rest of her stupid Substack, which we didn’t, because, who gives a s–t about Brooke Baldwin, to be honest?"

Baldwin responded at the time, accusing Kelly of journalistic failures and spreading misinformation that was amplified by other outlets. "My last Substack was not about me having casual sex. It was about me choosing not to," Baldwin wrote in July. She characterized Kelly's actions as an attempt to "snuff someone else’s out" rather than support other women.

Baldwin also expressed that she has not found compassion for Kelly and may not in the future, stating, "I’m not going to sit here and pretend I’ve arrived at some Hallmark kumbaya bulls–t ending where I’ve found compassion for her. I haven’t. I’m not there. Maybe I never will be, and I’m not apologizing for that."
