San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has achieved a rare statistical milestone, joining Tom Brady as the only two quarterbacks to begin an NFL season with a 6-0 record while recording at least 15 total touchdowns and two or fewer interceptions. Brady accomplished this feat in 2015 with the New England Patriots.
Purdy's impressive start to the 2026 season was highlighted following the 49ers' 23-17 victory over the Washington Commanders on Monday Night Football. Through the first six weeks, Purdy has amassed 1,460 passing yards and 14 touchdowns, adding another score on the ground with 156 rushing yards. He has thrown only two interceptions and has been sacked just five times.
Despite his individual success, Purdy credited the 49ers' defense for their performance in the team's sixth consecutive win. "For our defense to do what they did at the end, that was really impressive," Purdy stated after the game, acknowledging that the offense, and specifically himself, could have executed better in the second half.
The 49ers currently hold an undefeated 6-0 record. Purdy is noted as the highest-rated passer in NFL history with at least 1,500 pass attempts, holding the top spot in several quarterback statistical categories this season. The team has navigated a number of injuries throughout the season, but Purdy's play has been central to the 49ers' status as one of the league's most dynamic offenses.
