Broccoli Touted as Liver Superfood by Nutritionist on Natalie Imbruglia Podcast

Belgravia nutritionist Gabriela Peacock has identified broccoli as a "superfood" that aids liver function, particularly after periods of high alcohol consumption. Peacock shared her insights on the inaugural episode of the podcast "Don't Judge Me," where she interviewed singer Natalie Imbruglia.

Peacock, who founded the supplement brand GP Nutrition and has advised public figures like Princess Beatrice, explained that broccoli's combination of high fiber and sulfurous compounds supports the liver's natural detoxification processes. She specifically noted its benefit to the second phase of liver detoxification, which can become sluggish due to stress and alcohol intake.

"Your liver loves broccoli because it really supports that second phase of detoxification," Peacock stated.

To make cruciferous vegetables like broccoli more appealing and nutrient-rich, Peacock shared a cooking method. She suggests steaming them in a pan with a small amount of water until tender, then adding spices and frying them with olive oil or ghee. This approach, she explained, minimizes nutrient loss compared to boiling.

During the podcast, Imbruglia, 51, also discussed her past experiences with diets, including the keto diet, and her occasional indulgences.

The episode is available on podcast platforms, with a video version also accessible online.
