Channel Seven personality Kane Cornes has reignited his public feud with former colleague Nathan Brown, asserting that Brown has been "muzzled" in his role on Nine's Sunday Footy Show. Cornes made the claim on his SEN breakfast show, alleging that Brown has been instructed to avoid mentioning Channel Seven due to his employment with Triple M.

Cornes stated that he "know[s] for a fact he's been muzzled," suggesting that "some Channel 7 heavyhitters are not exactly Media-Ocre enthusiasts." He questioned whether Brown's role as "Australia's self appointed media watchdog" has been compromised by his radio future being tied to Seven. Cornes doubled down on the claim Tuesday evening.

A representative from Channel 9 dismissed Cornes' allegations as "garbage," stating that Cornes needs "to get over the fact Brown beat him in the boxing ring and move on." The source insisted that Brown is "the last person to be backing down" and that there has been "no directive whatsoever." They added that the situation is "embarrassing" for Cornes.

The rivalry between Cornes and Brown dates back to a boxing match in 2024, and they have frequently traded on-air barbs since. A month prior, Brown confirmed that he and Cornes still do not get along, describing their interactions as professional but distant when not required to work together for Sportsbet.

This is not the first time Cornes has commented on Brown's media segments. Previously, Cornes reportedly called Brown "brave or stupid" over a decision concerning content in the Sunday Footy Show's "Media-Ocre" segment, which allegedly included Channel 7 gaffes. Brown, however, defended the segment's light-hearted nature, emphasizing that it is never nasty and that they include themselves in the commentary.

Brown emerged victorious in their 2024 boxing match, which consisted of four two-minute rounds. Despite Cornes' potentially superior cardio, Brown was the dominant force in the bout.
