Bravo reality star Brittany Cartwright has been granted a temporary restraining order against her estranged husband Jax Taylor as their divorce proceedings intensify. Cartwright submitted court papers on Thursday to the L.A. Superior Court, detailing allegations of abuse spanning years, including claims of death threats and physical violence.
In her declaration, Cartwright stated that Taylor threatened to harm her and kill her during an argument in July 2024, during which he allegedly threw furniture. Photos submitted as evidence appear to show Cartwright with a bruised knee following this alleged incident. She also accused Taylor of damaging her property, including breaking three phones and an iPad during the same altercation.
Cartwright's filing also alleged "coercive control, financial abuse, emotional and psychological abuse, gaslighting and even physical violence." She further stated that Taylor made degrading and humiliating remarks about her in front of their 5-year-old son, Cruz.
Taylor, who is reportedly dating Cartwright's former publicist Lori Krebs, released a statement on social media Friday. He acknowledged making "a lot of mistakes" and behaving in ways he regrets during what he described as "the darkest time of my life and at the height of my addiction." He stated he has been sober for over a year and a half, is committed to treatment and therapy, and is working on changing his life.
Taylor expressed shock at the claims, particularly those from over two years ago, noting that no police reports or criminal charges have been filed against him. He asserted that he "strongly dispute[s]" some allegations and that "the full story, context and evidence will be addressed where it belongs - in court."
"I will respect the court's orders and the legal process," Taylor stated. "My focus continues to be my sobriety, working on my mental health, being the best father I can be to Cruz and moving forward in a healthy and responsible way."
Cartwright had also filed for sole custody of their son Cruz, who is autistic, but the judge reportedly denied this request pending a court hearing.
Taylor and Cartwright were main cast members on Bravo's "Vanderpump Rules" and later appeared on the spin-off "The Valley." Taylor left "The Valley" last year to seek treatment for substance abuse and mental health issues.
The couple was together from 2015 until 2024. Cartwright stated in a recent television appearance that Taylor's relationship with Krebs, whom she considered family, was a "complete betrayal."
