Brittany Cartwright has broken her silence regarding her estranged husband Jax Taylor's affair with their mutual friend and publicist, Lori Krebs. Cartwright, 37, described the situation as a "complete betrayal" in a recent interview with People, detailing the personal and professional fallout from the relationship.
Taylor and Cartwright, who share a five-year-old son named Cruz, filed for divorce in August 2024. The public learned of Taylor and Krebs's relationship in mid-July when they were photographed together during a vacation in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
Krebs had served as Cartwright's publicist for approximately 10 years, a relationship that began after they met through a mutual manager, Ryan Revel. Krebs was a consistent presence in Cartwright's professional life, including during her time on "Vanderpump Rules" and the current series "The Valley." The two women also vacationed together.
Hours before the photos of Taylor and Krebs surfaced, Krebs sent Cartwright a text message acknowledging the upcoming revelation would be "incredibly shocking and painful." In the text, Krebs stated, "I understand that you will feel betrayed by this, especially because I was there during one of the hardest times of your life. I cared very much about you and Cruz then, and I still very much do. None of that care or support was ever insincere."
Krebs explained in the message that her relationship with Taylor had developed over the "past few months." She added, "When you asked me about the rumors, I told you they weren’t true, and I will always stand by that... I’m telling you truthfully that this only developed in the past few months."
Cartwright recounted receiving the text messages, describing her "heart sinking." She confronted Krebs, stating, "Lori, this is so disgusting. This is horrible. You’re dead to me." Following this exchange, Krebs reportedly turned off her phone, and the two have not spoken since.
What particularly hurt Cartwright was the report that Taylor and Krebs had bonded over their respective divorces and raising children on the autism spectrum. "Knowing everything that I do for my son, knowing how hard this divorce has been on me, knowing everything I have gone through, that’s what you’re going to say you bonded over? It’s absolutely disgusting," Cartwright said.
Recent public exchanges between Taylor and Cartwright have also highlighted ongoing tensions. Taylor accused Cartwright of career sabotage in an Instagram post, claiming a brand deal with Smartwater was misrepresented. He stated he believed he had accepted a legitimate campaign through a third-party platform but later discovered it was unauthorized. Taylor alleged that Cartwright then used this "honest mistake" to "publicly mock me and embarrass me."
Cartwright addressed the fake deal drama on her podcast "When Reality Hits," accusing Taylor of attempting to "flip his image." She later denied Taylor's allegations on her Instagram stories, stating she opened a direct message about the situation live on her podcast and that she had "really stayed quiet" while he continued to blame her.
Taylor, who has been sober for nearly two years, asserted he had remained silent for the past year out of respect for their son, but claimed it has been "incredibly difficult" due to what he described as "constant attempts to tear those opportunities away" and allegations that Cartwright contacted networks and brands to prevent him from working.
A source close to Cartwright denied Taylor's claims, telling Us Weekly that "the accountability lies with Jax, yet he continues to lie, deflect, and refuse to take responsibility for the damage he's caused." The source added that if Taylor is struggling to book jobs, it is due to "his own actions - both on and off camera - not because of Brittany."
Taylor had previously confirmed he was in a new relationship in the comment section of a since-deleted post. He responded to a fan's comment about him potentially being "The Bachelor" by stating, "No thanks I am taken."
Following the news of Taylor and Krebs's public display, Cartwright fired the public relations expert. At the time, Cartwright stated she was focusing on herself and her son, teasing that she would share her "truth" about the matter soon. A source told Page Six that Cartwright felt betrayed by Krebs, noting she "doesn't expect much from him [Taylor] at this point." The source added that Cartwright had previously believed Krebs when rumors of a relationship between her and Taylor first surfaced two years prior.
Krebs's public relations firm's Instagram account is currently deactivated.
