Britt Stewart Pens Emotional Tribute to Taylor Hanson After 'DWTS' Elimination
The professional dancer expressed pride in their partnership despite the unexpected exit.
“Dancing With the Stars” professional dancer Britt Stewart shared a heartfelt message for her Season 35 partner, Taylor Hanson, following their elimination from the competition. Stewart took to Instagram to reflect on their time together, emphasizing that their connection transcended the number of weeks they were given on the show.
"What we created together was bigger than how many weeks we were given to create it," Stewart wrote. "Taylor, thank you for showing up fully and authentically. Thank you for trusting me. I will forever be proud of our partnership and our DWTS journey together."
Stewart, who joined "DWTS" in 2020 as the show's first Black female professional dancer, credited Hanson for rekindling her passion for dance. "There are times in your life that you know will impact you in big ways," she stated. "[Having] the musician as my partner on ‘DWTS’ Season 35 is and will be one of those times."
The unexpected elimination of Stewart and Hanson during Yacht Rock Night, alongside Guillermo Rodriguez and Witney Carson, and Jackson Olson and Emma Slater, surprised many viewers. The duo, who earned an 18 out of 30 for their foxtrot, were not the lowest-scoring pair. Stewart's visible disappointment and repeated apologies to Hanson after the announcement drew significant attention.
During their final interview on the show, Hanson expressed gratitude for his experience with Stewart. "This has been everything. This has been incredible. She’s shown me things I didn’t think were possible and I’m so grateful for this time. Amazing," he said. Stewart, visibly emotional, responded, "Taylor, I am so grateful that I have you in my life. Thank you so much for everything. Thank you."
On the official "DWTS" podcast, Hanson shared that the "intimacy" of his partnership with Stewart had brought him to tears. "She has thrown her heart at it, and that’s the thing most people avoid," he remarked about Stewart's dedication to dance.
Fellow "DWTS" professional Ezra Sosa voiced his frustration with the elimination, commenting on a TikTok video of the moment, "I’m so pissed."
