Britt McHenry Resigns From State Department Following Altercation
The former ESPN reporter's departure comes days after an incident at a basketball game.
Britt McHenry resigned from her position as a State Department press adviser on Friday, days after an altercation at a Washington Wizards NBA game. McHenry was appointed to the role last month.
Video appearing to show McHenry throwing a drink at someone during Wednesday's game against the Milwaukee Bucks circulated online. The footage also shows McHenry being escorted from Capital One Arena following the incident.
A State Department official declined to comment on McHenry's resignation, stating that it was an internal personnel matter. ABC News was unable to immediately reach McHenry for comment.
McHenry previously worked as a reporter for ESPN. In 2015, she was suspended for one week by the network after a video surfaced of her verbally confronting an employee at a towing company.
Her resignation from the State Department was first reported by Page Six.
