Britney Spears revealed on Instagram that she experienced a botched Botox procedure that caused her left eye to droop for several weeks. The 44-year-old singer shared a video explaining the incident, stating that a doctor "put so much Botox in this left eye that it drooped down like that."
Spears showed her followers the effect, noting that her eye is only now beginning to return to normal. She expressed embarrassment over the situation and issued a warning to fans considering cosmetic injectables.
"Girls, you have to be so careful if you do Botox with these people and these doctors," Spears said. "They can really f*** your eyes up."
She recounted that her eye remained droopy for approximately four weeks. Spears also advised, "Be careful with your bodies, because it's yours and you own it."
In the caption of her Instagram reel, Spears wrote, "You can't trust anyone!!!" She previously expressed a similar sentiment in 2023, stating she was "done with Botox" after a previous procedure left her with bruising and unable to be seen for two weeks.
In separate posts on Friday, Spears also spoke about feeling she had "failed as a mother" and reflected on past family dynamics. She shared a throwback image of her sons, Sean Preston and Jayden, whom she has with ex-husband Kevin Federline. Spears recounted a conversation with one of her sons about his disbelief in God, which led her to question her role as a mother. She also expressed lingering feelings about her parents, Jamie and Lynne Spears, allegedly taking her children to the beach without her knowledge during her conservatorship.
Spears was under a court-ordered conservatorship from February 2008 until November 2021. Following the termination of the conservatorship, she has spoken out about her experiences and feelings regarding her family and past control.
