Jayden Federline, son of pop star Britney Spears, has spoken out against the "ridiculous" conspiracy theories circulating about his mother. The 19-year-old addressed the speculation in a video posted to Instagram, particularly those questioning whether Spears is still alive.
"I see this one video [on TikTok] that has like 1.2 million likes and then the caption is like: 'The biggest theory ever: Is Britney Spears still alive?'" Federline said in the footage. "Bro, you can go to her page and see her right now. Are you guys tweaking?"
His comments come after Spears caused alarm earlier this month when she was observed standing through the sunroof of her moving Mercedes SUV as it traveled at high speed on a Los Angeles freeway. The incident followed her arrest on March 4 in Ventura County on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Spears, 44, subsequently accepted a plea deal for a lesser charge of reckless driving, resulting in 12 months of probation, credit for time served on a jail sentence, and a $571 fine. However, a segment of her fanbase has promoted theories that she has been cloned or replaced by a body double, fueled by her social media activity and recent incidents.
Federline, who has relocated to Los Angeles to pursue music and modeling, expressed his frustration with the spread of misinformation. "It makes me really know that a lot of the stuff on media is exaggerated and fake," he stated. "People know how gullible people are, and they use that to their advantage... They don’t even research it."
He added that while he understands people are huge fans of his mother, they should not overthink media portrayals. "It's never as overthinking as they make it seem. Like, don't overthink it. It's not as complicated as it seems."
Spears herself has dismissed concerns about her public actions, posting on Instagram that "nothing is what it seems" regarding the car sunroof incident. A source told the Daily Mail that Spears was simply looking at traffic ahead. She also previously described herself as being on a "spiritual journey" following her DUI arrest.
Jayden and his brother, Sean Preston, 20, are Spears' sons with her ex-husband Kevin Federline. Although they were estranged for several years, Spears and her sons have recently reconciled.
