Britney Spears recently shared a quote from fellow artist Justin Bieber on Instagram, focusing on self-worth independent of external validation. The post comes shortly after Spears reflected on the lasting impact and "damage" from her 13-year conservatorship.
The quote, overlaid on an image of Bieber, read: "My worth isn't based on what I did, what I have, who I know, or what people say about me. I am enough because God created me. - Justin Bieber." Spears tagged Bieber in the caption but offered no further personal commentary.
This is not the first time Spears has publicly referenced Bieber. In September 2025, she defended him on social media after he faced criticism for using photos of his infant son to promote an album. At that time, Spears also addressed concerns about her home environment, posting a picture of Bieber with his baby boy and writing, "Shame on those who judged my home in my pajamas !!! I'm in love with this picture !!! So so beautiful !!!"
Reflections on Conservatorship
Spears' post about her worth followed a since-deleted social media clip where she discussed the profound effects of her conservatorship. "I feel like, still to this day, people don't realize the real damage that was done to my heart and soul in the conservatorship," she wrote.
Her conservatorship, overseen for most of its duration by her father, Jamie Spears, began in February 2008 and concluded in November 2021. Spears has described the arrangement as "abusive," while her father maintained it was necessary for her well-being.
Spears also reflected on how the conservatorship altered her perception of connection and performance. She stated she used to be "painfully shy" but would transform on stage. "After having kids, though, I think that game was beyond overdone. I felt so silly and embarrassed. I think it's easier when you're younger to go there," she commented.
She also noted a shift in her social interactions, recalling a time when she valued a "genuine mystery of acute oneness when we were together, which was sacred." Spears, mother to sons Sean Preston and Jayden with ex-husband Kevin Federline, mentioned her current single status and infrequent display of her physical form.
Past Restrictions and Current Life
Spears recounted instances from the early stages of her career where she would experience physical distress, such as asthma and shaking, when meeting more than 10 people. She described how her father would later have her meet "70 people," which "literally hurt" and made her feel "like a robot."
She expressed pride in "shutting all that down," emphasizing that such interactions had been forced upon her for too many years.
Prior to her conservatorship's end, Spears faced legal issues. On March 4, she was arrested and subsequently charged with a DUI in Westlake Village, California. She pleaded guilty at her arraignment via her lawyer and was sentenced to 12 months of probation. The sentence also included a requirement to enroll in a three-month alcohol and drug education program, a fine of $571, and weekly psychological and bi-monthly psychiatric appointments. She is also prohibited from consuming alcohol and non-prescription drugs.
