Britney Spears Expresses Bitterness Over Conservatorship in Lingerie Post

Britney Spears recently shared a new Instagram video in which she appeared in lingerie, expressing lingering bitterness about her 13-year conservatorship. In a lengthy accompanying caption, the 44-year-old singer directed her criticism towards her parents, Jamie and Lynne Spears, and those who have labeled her as 'crazy.'

Spears detailed the restrictive nature of her conservatorship, stating that despite working "seven days a week for 15 years," she was "never even able to fly somewhere just to meet a friend." She recalled feeling "victimized" due to the suppression of her creativity and her unique way of processing the world. She wrote that she had been "a sweet, innocent girl who used to be famous and believed everything she was told," likening her past compliance to accepting that "the sky is yellow" if told so.

"Yes, I’m bitter, all the hours, seconds, time, and secretly, subconsciously knowing my capabilities as a woman," Spears stated. She also recounted being able to hold her first dollar bill only five years ago, expressing disbelief that people still consider her the "crazy one."

The singer also shared her thoughts on personal style and self-perception, mentioning that she realized at 40 that "men like black lingerie." She described a recent experience with new shoes and lingerie that made her feel as though her "body shrunk four sizes" and her "mind rocketed up like I was six years old again." She questioned the healthiness of spending extended periods alone during her travels over the past six years.

In other social media posts around the same time, Spears shared an image of a man she referred to as "Santa Claus," with whom she claims to speak daily, and another black and white photo of a woman's high heel stepping on a man's hand, captioned "I’m extremely fragile – so so sorry!!!"

Spears was placed under a court-ordered conservatorship in February 2008 following a series of public mental health challenges and intense media scrutiny. The conservatorship was terminated in November 2021, after nearly 14 years. Her father, Jamie Spears, acted as the primary conservator for much of this period, asserting that his control was for her well-being. However, Britney Spears has previously described the arrangement as "abusive."

The pop star's personal struggles have been a subject of public attention for nearly two decades. She experienced a notable breakdown in 2007, leading to a psychiatric hold. In January 2008, she was briefly taken to a facility after a dispute over relinquishing custody of her sons to her ex-husband, Kevin Federline. Spears shares sons Sean Preston and Jayden with Federline.
