Britney Spears Claims World Has Been 'Hateful' Amid Personal Reflections
The pop star shared candid thoughts on authenticity and societal perception in a recent Instagram post.
Britney Spears stated that the world has been "hateful" towards her, accompanying the sentiment with a new Instagram video showcasing her in a miniskirt and cropped blouse. The 44-year-old artist, who has recently maintained a lower profile, expressed her feelings in the caption of a clip shared over the weekend.
In the video, Spears is seen in a dimly lit living area, initially wearing a patterned sweater that she begins to remove. She then reveals a white blouse tied to expose her midriff, paired with a gray miniskirt and red boots. "A lot of girls last year have definitely done the complete image I used to have when I was younger," Spears wrote. "And yo that's cool but at least mine was real."
The singer reflected on her past, describing herself as a "nerd" in school and lamenting that "the world has become fake." She expressed that it is "a shame" when "people who are actually real get hated on." Spears also mentioned that individuals in her life have advised her to "be fake" and that she "needs a bad a** girlfriend who can teach me how to lie."
"I'm actually too kind in real life and that's the problem.. to all the girls who say I'm History… I'M PROPHECY," she declared. Spears continued, "I'm the original apple B school girl who did backflips and backhand springs and fell in love with people on every set I ever went to… these years were precious so young and naive..."
"The world has been hateful to me and I'm still standing, living, and dreaming," Spears added. She concluded by announcing her intention to share photos from a recent trip to Italy soon, while also noting that "no makeup makes you look WAY younger."
The music played in the background of the reel was "Baby Did A Bad Thing" by Chris Isaak. This post follows a period of lower public visibility, including a recent low-key lunch outing in New York City.
Earlier this month, Spears released an unreleased track, "She'll Never Be Me," which was originally recorded for her 2001 album "Britney." The song, co-written with ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake, was made public without a formal press release from her label. Spears and Timberlake dated from 1999 to 2002, and she discussed their relationship, including an alleged urging for her to have an abortion, in her 2023 memoir "The Woman In Me."
In February, Spears reportedly sold her music catalog for approximately $200 million. In recent months, she has also shared sentiments about her past 13-year conservatorship, expressing feelings of bitterness and criticizing those who have labeled her as "crazy." Last week, she shared a rare family photo with her sons, Sean Preston and Jayden, during a trip to Dollywood.
