British Olympian Scott Brash Investigated in Fatal Spanish Crash Involving Luis Enrique's Daughter

British equestrian champion Scott Brash is under investigation by Spanish police following a fatal road collision in Spain that involved Sira Martinez, the daughter of Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique. Martinez, 26, was a passenger in an Audi Q3 driven by Brash, 40, when the vehicle collided with a 20-year-old motorcyclist. The motorcyclist died at the scene. |

The collision occurred on Thursday evening around 7:45 p.m. on the N-322 road near Oliva, south of Valencia. Police confirmed that the car driver, identified by local reports as Brash, is being investigated on suspicion of manslaughter. According to a Civil Guard spokesman, the car driver is suspected of making an improper turn, which appears to have led to the collision with the motorcycle.

Brash and Martinez were unharmed in the incident. The driver of the Audi passed drug and alcohol tests. Under Spanish law, formal charges are typically laid closer to trial, meaning Brash has not yet been formally charged. | The driver of Audi Q3 is believed to be British Olympian Scott Brash, 40, pictured here after winning gold in equestrian at the 2024 Paris Olympics

Martinez is the daughter of former Spain national team coach Luis Enrique. Her younger sister, Xana, died of bone cancer in 2019 at the age of nine. Luis Enrique stepped away from his coaching role to spend time with his daughter during her illness and later spoke movingly about his memories of her. He returned to coaching shortly after Xana's death and has since managed Spain and currently Paris Saint-Germain.

Scott Brash, a decorated equestrian athlete, is a two-time Olympic gold medalist. He won his first gold medal as part of the British Team at the 2012 London Olympics and his second in Paris in 2024. He also achieved the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping in 2015, a feat that earned him a significant prize. He was made an MBE in 2013 and inducted into the British Horse Society Equestrian Hall of Fame in 2015. | Gold medalists Scott Brash, Harry Charles and Ben Maher of Team Great Britain pose for a photo during the medal ceremony for the Jumping Team Final in 2024
