A Member of Parliament has requested that the British government advocate for a renewed investigation into the death of Lucy Harrison, a 23-year-old woman from Warrington, Cheshire, who was fatally shot by her father in Prosper, Texas, on January 10, 2025. The call comes after US authorities did not bring criminal charges against the father, Kris Harrison.
An inquest in the UK conducted by senior coroner for Cheshire, Jacqueline Devonish, determined that Kris Harrison's actions constituted unlawful killing due to gross negligence manslaughter. Despite this finding, a grand jury in Collin County, Texas, previously decided against indicting him after local police investigated the incident as a possible manslaughter.
Sarah Hall, the Labour MP for Warrington South, addressed the House of Commons, expressing her desire for the UK government to encourage US officials to reconsider the case. According to evidence presented at the inquest, Kris Harrison had been drinking on the day of the shooting. He had reportedly taken his daughter into a room to show her his firearm after an argument that involved discussions about US President Donald Trump.
Lucy Harrison was alone in a room with her father at his home when she sustained the fatal chest wound. The details emerged during the inquest held in Cheshire in February.
