A British national, Jamie Thomas Stephen Lomas, 26, was killed by multiple gunshot wounds in what authorities are investigating as a homicide near Kent, Washington. The King County Sheriff's Office responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence on the 23000 block of 156 Ave SE on August 22, around 12:20 p.m. Deputies secured the scene, but no arrests have been made, and the investigation remains active.
Lomas, who was from Manchester, was described by his father as having "a heart of gold." His family stated he was "tragically murdered in America," leaving them "completely heartbroken, struggling to come to terms with such a devastating sudden loss." They also noted he was "deeply loved by everyone who knew him" and had "so much life ahead of him."
The King County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed Lomas died from multiple gunshot wounds following the incident. The shooting occurred near Lake Youngs, a reservoir situated close to the city of Kent.
Family members have initiated a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for the repatriation of Lomas's body to the UK and to cover funeral costs. The campaign notes that the expenses of bringing him home are beyond their immediate means. As of the latest reports, approximately £7,200 had been raised from 191 donations toward a £10,000 goal. The funds will be transferred to Lomas's aunt, Sharon Day.
The UK Foreign Office has confirmed they are providing support to Lomas's family and are in communication with local authorities in the United States.
