A British man sought on suspicion of attempted murder was arrested upon arrival at Tenerife South Airport, officials confirmed. The 46-year-old arrived on a flight from Liverpool and was immediately detained by National Police.

He is accused of a violent knife attack that occurred in December at a tourist complex in Adeje, on the southern coast of Tenerife. The victim sustained life-threatening injuries, including wounds to the neck, but survived due to the intervention of a witness. The alleged assailant fled the scene following the attack, and an investigation has been ongoing since.

In addition to the attempted murder charge, the detainee faces several outstanding warrants for offenses including reckless driving, assaulting law enforcement officers, and causing bodily harm. Police sources confirmed that both the suspect and the victim are British nationals. The motive for the alleged attack remains unclear.

The arrest took place shortly after police in Tenerife released footage of the apprehension of Pamela Gwinnett, a fraudster convicted in her absence in the UK. Gwinnett, 62, had fled to Tenerife while on bail awaiting trial for conning an elderly woman out of nearly £300,000. She was convicted last October and sentenced to six years in prison for theft and fraud but had evaded serving her sentence until her recent arrest. She is expected to be extradited to the UK to begin her jail term.
