A British expatriate living in Queensland, Australia, has recounted the unsettling experience of discovering her housemate spying on her while she was in the bathroom. The 23-year-old, identified as April, shared her story on social media, detailing how her suspicions of being watched in the shared bathroom escalated until she caught her housemate, referred to as Jack, looking through a gap in the door.
April and her boyfriend had moved into a rental property with four other housemates, including another couple and two older men. Their living arrangement involved sharing two bathrooms, with April and her boyfriend sharing one with Jack, who was described as a "big tech guy" in his late 30s or 40s. Initially, April found Jack to be a bit strange but largely kept to himself.
However, over several weeks, April developed a persistent feeling of being watched in the bathroom. She expressed her unease to her boyfriend, who initially suggested she might be overly anxious. The feeling intensified until one morning, while April was in the laundry room adjacent to Jack's bedroom, she noticed his peculiar behavior. He entered the bathroom and invited her in, a comment that struck her as odd.
Her intuition was finally confirmed when, while undressed and preparing to shower, she heard footsteps approaching the bathroom. She noticed movement beneath the door and then saw an eyeball through a small hole. Upon realizing Jack was looking through the door, April confronted him, shouting at him. He immediately ran away.
Frightened and alone in the house, April called her boyfriend, who rushed home. He confronted Jack, who responded by saying he would "find a way to move forward." The couple decided to move out of the property that evening, having only lived there for a month. They informed the landlord, who initially suggested reconciliation but eventually gave Jack a few days to vacate the premises. April's boyfriend stayed with her day and night until Jack moved out.
Reflecting on the incident, April speculated that Jack's tech background might have enabled him to install hidden cameras, though she expressed not wanting to know for sure. She did not report the incident to the police, citing fear. Following her account, other women shared similar experiences with housemates, with some advising April to check her electronic devices for potential tampering or hidden cameras, given Jack's stated expertise in technology.
