A British Airways flight bound for Las Vegas was halted and returned to the terminal at Heathrow Airport on Thursday after a passenger became disruptive. The incident led to the arrest of a 31-year-old man.
Video footage captured the moment a man repeatedly swore and attempted to leave his seat to confront other passengers. A female flight attendant intervened, repeatedly instructing him to remain seated and warning that she would restrain him if he did not comply. He was eventually handcuffed and escorted off the plane by armed officers.
Mets Police confirmed officers responded to reports of a passenger causing a disturbance. A spokesperson stated, "The plane returned to the terminal to allow officers to board the plane. A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being drunk onboard an aircraft and failing to obey the commands of the pilot." The man was taken into police custody for further inquiries.
A British Airways representative commented on the incident, saying, "Disruptive or abusive behaviour is never tolerated on board and the safety of our customers and crew is our highest priority. When these incidents occur, the appropriate action will always be taken."
The video of the incident, shared by a fellow passenger, gained significant attention online, with many commending the flight attendant for her handling of the situation.
