Britain's Got Talent comedian Mike Newall, 45, is recovering in hospital after suffering a brain hemorrhage during a family holiday in Wales. Newall, who appeared on the ITV talent show in 2020, became seriously ill and was taken to a hospital.
His wife, Nico, shared that doctors initially advised them to "expect the worst" after he was transferred to a specialist hospital in Liverpool. However, the bleeding in his brain miraculously stopped, and his condition has since improved, with his pain managed and his vital signs showing daily progress.
Nico described the events on Instagram, stating that moments after a family photo was taken on the beach, Mike became severely ill. She drove him to the nearest hospital, and from there he was transported to a specialist facility in Liverpool. She expressed gratitude for the prayers, messages, and support received, highlighting the kindness of friends, family, and the comedy community.
Friends of Newall have established a GoFundMe page to support his family while he is unable to work. The page noted that Newall will be out of action for "a good while" and aims to alleviate financial pressure. Within hours of its launch, the fundraiser had surpassed £10,000 in donations.
Nico expressed optimism for his continued recovery, acknowledging that there is still a long road ahead and that doctors are monitoring him closely. She stated they are taking his recovery "one day at a time" but feel "much more hopeful today."
