Parts of Britain may experience a sixth heatwave of the year next week, with temperatures potentially reaching 29 degrees Celsius (84.2 degrees Fahrenheit), according to forecasters. Southern England is expected to see the warmest conditions, with temperatures climbing into the mid to high 20s Celsius by midweek and into the upper 20s by the end of the week.
The Met Office described the conditions as "notably warm for late September" and suggested it would "offer a final taste of summer before autumn becomes more firmly established." This potential heatwave follows five previous widespread heatwaves during the late spring and summer months, accompanied by prolonged dry weather that has strained water supplies.
