Fox News chief political analyst Brit Hume stated on Monday that former President Donald Trump's campaign efforts ahead of the 2026 midterm elections do not appear to be generating significant momentum or having a positive effect.

During a broadcast of "Special Report with Bret Baier," Hume observed that while campaigns sometimes see a surge in support, he has "not seen that yet" in the current political landscape. He expressed uncertainty about whether Trump's campaigning is making any difference and, if so, whether that difference is beneficial.

Trump's current approval ratings are reportedly at a record low, according to recent polls.

Hume pointed to several recent events and Trump's responses that he believes have not been advantageous. These include Trump's attacks on Texas Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico, his perceived stance towards Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and a brief period of White House press secretary Katie Zacharia. Hume suggested that Talarico, contrary to Trump's portrayal, appears to be a mild-mannered and pleasant individual.

"I don’t see this White House and this campaigning by the president as having made much headway so far of the kind that you can sort of see just watching the campaigning," Hume said.
