Arizona Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett earned an additional $285,000 following the team's 26-14 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. This payment was triggered by Brissett playing at least 50 percent of the Cardinals' offensive snaps during the game, a condition tied to his reworked one-year contract. He is eligible to receive $285,000 for each of the Cardinals' wins, with a cap of 10 victories, potentially bringing his total earnings to $2.85 million from this incentive alone.

The bonus structure is considered among the higher per-win incentives in the NFL. Brissett's deal, which he negotiated himself, guarantees him $15.5 million and could reach $21 million with incentives. He can also earn up to $1.25 million for throwing 24 touchdowns and $1.4 million for achieving 3,500 passing yards, marks he narrowly missed in the previous season.

The Cardinals' victory was a notable upset, as they entered the season with an over-under win total of 3.5. The Chargers were favored by 9.5 points in the Week 1 matchup. Arizona outgained Los Angeles 393-268 in total yards and held a significant advantage in time of possession.

Brissett completed 27 of 37 passes for 277 yards and one touchdown, with no interceptions, achieving a passer rating of 103.1. He was particularly effective against the Chargers' zone coverage, completing 20 of 27 passes for 203 yards against such schemes.

The Cardinals' defense and special teams also contributed significantly to the win. Simi Fehoko blocked a punt in the fourth quarter, setting up a touchdown pass from Brissett to Trey McBride. On the subsequent possession, Andrew Wingard intercepted Justin Herbert.

"A great game in all three phases," Brissett stated after the game. "On the road, tough environment — it’s what you ask for."
