Bride Visits Hospital in Wedding Dress to Share Dance with Father
A bride fulfilled her father's wish to still have their father-daughter dance on her wedding day by visiting him in the hospital.
Sinèad Jackson visited her father, Leslie, in the hospital on her wedding day, dressed in her wedding gown, so they could share their planned father-daughter dance.
An hour before her ceremony, Jackson arrived at Tameside Hospital to see her father. Footage captured the tender moment as she, in her wedding dress, and her father, in his wedding suit, slow-danced to the song "This Dance" by Scott Thomas Laughridge.
"I just fought back my tears for my Dad because I thought I can't cry," Sinèad recalled. "He kept saying sorry to me."
Sinèad and her now-husband, Stephen, met at college when they were 17 and had been engaged since 2015. After deciding to marry earlier this year, they eagerly anticipated their wedding day.
On October 8, the day Sinèad learned her father was hospitalized, she described feeling upset. "My mum rang me [and] told me my Dad was really not well," Sinèad said. "She said he was in hospital and I was crying, she was crying."
After visiting her father the following day, Sinèad understood he would not be able to leave his hospital ward. A nurse explained the severity of his condition, noting the high risk involved if he were to leave, even for a short period. "I could see it in him as well - and he was a bit like breathless, which is unusual," Sinèad added.
Leslie encouraged his daughter to proceed with the wedding as planned. However, Sinèad described her father as stubborn, stating, "He told me not to postpone it. He kept telling me not to worry and to just get on with the day. He said he would see the pictures and videos."
