Brian Kilmeade, co-host of Fox & Friends, proposed on air that a popular uprising in Iran could significantly benefit Republican midterm election prospects. During a broadcast, Kilmeade suggested that if the Iranian people were to rise up against their government, it would generate "momentum" for the Republican party.
"If they manage to, the people rise up, and if this thing goes in our direction, no one’s factoring in just a win in Iran," Kilmeade stated. He further elaborated that turning Iran's current situation into a "victory for the only president to take them on" could create unforeseen momentum for the midterms.
Fellow panelist Ainsley Earnhardt responded with a brief "that would be incredible" before the discussion moved to other news items. The proposal, however, faced immediate skepticism on social media, with many questioning the premise that the Iranian populace would orchestrate a domestic political shift with American elections in mind. The notion that Iranian citizens might prioritize influencing the timing of a US election with a coup or uprising was widely doubted.
