Brian Austin Green has spoken about his nearly 15-year relationship with ex-wife Megan Fox, stating that physical attraction was the initial foundation of their marriage. Green, 52, shared his perspective on the "I Do, Part 2" podcast, explaining that he often gravitated towards building relationships around physical attraction.
The couple, who married in 2010, share three children: Noah, Bodhi, and Journey. Their separation was announced in May 2020. Following the divorce, Green found himself a single parent, an outcome he did not anticipate.
Shifting Relationship Approach
Green stated that he sought therapy to understand and change his approach to relationships. He aimed to move away from patterns he identified as toxic and detrimental to relationships. Through therapy, he learned the importance of establishing a friendship before pursuing a romantic connection.
"I think when you start from a place of a genuine connection with someone, then you’re not so concerned about whether they are truly into you or not," Green explained, adding that this foundation allows for more transparent communication.
This new approach influenced his subsequent relationships. He began dating Sharna Burgess in December 2020. Green shared that he and Burgess openly discussed their best and worst qualities early in their relationship, putting everything on the table.
Green and Burgess welcomed their son, Zane, in June 2022, and became engaged the following year. He noted that focusing solely on physical connection can lead to a point where partners can no longer stand each other.
Despite their separation, Green and Fox have maintained an amicable co-parenting relationship. Fox began dating Machine Gun Kelly in June 2020, shortly after her split from Green. They welcomed a child together, Saga, in March 2025, and have since been observed on joint outings.
