Brewers Owner Taunts Dodgers After Trading for Skubal
Milwaukee's owner Mark Attanasio commented on the team's pursuit of Tarik Skubal and highlighted the Brewers' strategy.

Milwaukee Brewers owner Mark Attanasio made a veiled jab at the Los Angeles Dodgers while discussing the team's pursuit of pitcher Tarik Skubal. The Dodgers ultimately acquired Skubal in a trade, but the Brewers went on to sweep Los Angeles in the National League Championship Series.
Attanasio, speaking on The Post's "The Show" podcast, emphasized the Brewers' team-building philosophy. "This team was built, not bought," Attanasio stated. "It’s critical to look at how we got here, and because I want to have sustained success, we had to do that by being careful about how many prospects we gave up."
He reflected on the possibility of facing Skubal and Yoshinobu Yamamoto again if the Brewers had not secured their win in Game 4 of the NLCS. "I thought a lot about it," Attanasio said. "If we had not won that Game 4, we would’ve seen Skubal and [Yoshinobu Yamamoto] again, and we could’ve been looking at Game 7."
The 2026 World Series features an intriguing narrative with the Brewers and Tampa Bay Rays reaching the championship as smaller-market franchises. The Dodgers, who possessed the highest payroll among the final four teams, were eliminated by Milwaukee in four games.
Attanasio's remarks underscore the Brewers' multi-year effort to construct a competitive roster. While the Dodgers are known for their financial flexibility, their ability to make significant trades is also supported by a strong farm system, which has been crucial to their past successes.
Despite the acquisition of Skubal, the Dodgers were unable to advance, and their future trajectory remains a key topic of discussion heading into the offseason.
