Brewers Manager Pat Murphy's Hot Mic Moment During NLDS Game
Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy let loose a profanity on live television during a mid-game interview in Game 3 of the NLDS.
Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy experienced a memorable hot mic moment during Game 3 of the National League Division Series against the San Diego Padres. While being interviewed live by Fox Sports' Tom Verducci, Murphy reacted audibly to a play involving Padres center fielder Jackson Merrill.
As Sal Frelick of the Brewers hit a line drive that appeared destined for extra bases, Merrill sprinted into center field and made a sliding catch to end the play. In the midst of his interview, Murphy was heard exclaiming, "Get it in the gap, Sal. God dammit, Merrill." The broadcast quickly cut away from Murphy after the outburst, leaving the broadcast booth in laughter.
The incident occurred in the third inning. Frelick's hit, and subsequent caught, came shortly after Murphy had commented on his team being "a little antsy." The Fox broadcast quickly ended the interview after Murphy's on-air expletive.
Later in the same inning, the Padres scored two runs. Fernando Tatis Jr. drove in Samad Taylor with a ground out, and Merrill later singled and advanced to second. Manny Machado then hit a line drive to left field, bringing Merrill home from second base to extend the Padres' lead to 2-1. The Brewers eventually tied the game at 2-2.
