Brewers and Rays Set to Make World Series History
For the first time since 1980, Major League Baseball is guaranteed a new first-time World Series champion as the Milwaukee Brewers face the Tampa Bay Rays.
The Milwaukee Brewers and the Tampa Bay Rays are set to meet in the 2026 World Series, with Game 1 scheduled for Friday, October 23. Both franchises have never won a Fall Classic in their history, ensuring a new champion will be crowned.
The best-of-seven series will determine which team will hoist the Commissioner’s Trophy, marking a historic first for either the Brewers or the Rays.
Tickets for the series are available, with prices varying by location and game date. At the time of publication, the lowest-priced ticket for a Brewers home game at American Family Field was $2,163, including fees, for Game Six on October 30. For Rays home games at Tropicana Field, the lowest available ticket price was $757, including fees, for Game Five on October 28.
During the 2026 regular season, the Brewers and Rays met three times in late March and early April. Tampa Bay won the initial contest 3-2, but Milwaukee took the subsequent two games at home by scores of 6-2 and 8-2.
Notable performances from the regular season series included home runs from Tampa Bay's Yandy Díaz and Jonny DeLuca, and Milwaukee's Jake Bauers and Brice Turang. Brewers pitcher Brandon Woodruff made a start in late March, though his potential return in the World Series is uncertain after a July IL stint. Jacob Misiorowski pitched six innings of two-run ball in the final game of their regular season series.
Milwaukee enters the World Series as the betting favorite on DraftKings at -155, having not played since sweeping the Dodgers in the NLCS on October 15. The Rays advanced after defeating the Cleveland Guardians in six games, with key contributions from Yandy Díaz, Junior Caminero, and Freddy Peralta.
ESPN's Jeff Passan noted that the Rays will require contributions from players who have overcome injuries to compete against Milwaukee's pitching staff.
Fans without cable can stream the World Series through live TV streaming services that carry FOX. DIRECTV is highlighted as a service offering a free trial that includes the necessary channels.
