Bret Michaels, 63, has announced the cancellation of the remaining dates on his 2026 tour, citing a "medical domino effect" that has left him unable to perform. The Poison singer expressed his disappointment in a statement on Sunday, explaining the health setbacks he experienced in the wake of a comeback performance on Friday in Sugar Hill, Georgia.

Michaels, who underwent emergency surgery for kidney stones last month, stated he had been working diligently with his medical team to adjust medications and factor in other elements contributing to his health issues. He noted that the excitement of his first show back, combined with cross-country travel, affected his blood sugar and blood pressure, particularly in conjunction with new insulin and medication adjustments.

"I always choose victory over being a victim to my disease," Michaels wrote on Instagram. "I truly felt I would be able to do all these shows in spite of the recent medical domino effect that has occurred."

He also cited the "heat factor in" Atlanta as a contributing element during Friday's performance, which made it clear that further recovery time was necessary. The singer expressed his regret for missing the Mountain Music Festival in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, on Saturday, stating his affection for the fans, the outdoors, and the state.

Michaels vowed to return in 2027 or 2028 for what he promised would be his best show ever, expressing a desire to see "BearSquatch & rock with so many great bands, fans and crew."

He conveyed deep gratitude for the well wishes received from family, friends, fans, bands, and crews. He also acknowledged supportive messages from colleagues performing at the Mountain Music Festival, stating they provided the strength he needed to "remain unbroken."

"You’ve gotta know that my energy and my soul really want to play music," Michaels said. "Hopefully, I will get this figured out much sooner than later. If I could, I would be back out there tomorrow. Sincere love to all…stand strong, rock on and remain Unbroken!"

A statement on Michaels' social media page on Saturday indicated he would be taking "the next several months off to heal and get back to 100 percent." His doctors confirmed the decision, stating, "We will be pulling Bret off the road for the time being." They noted that while he wished to attempt the show, a period of rest and slow recovery is essential, especially considering the impact of summer heat and humidity on his blood sugar levels. Michaels' team stated their focus is on his healthy and strong return to performing.
