A 51-year-old Brazilian businesswoman has died following an eight-hour cosmetic surgery procedure on her face and neck. Andreia Vieira Gaspar, who lived in Madrid, Spain, underwent a "six-in-one" surgery that included a facelift and neck liposuction, as well as the removal of excess skin and fat deposits from her eyelids and neck.

The procedure took place earlier this month in Goiânia, Brazil. According to her sister, Djiane Vieira, Gaspar's tongue became severely swollen after the surgery, preventing her from closing her mouth. Her condition deteriorated, and doctors later diagnosed a bacterial infection. Gaspar passed away on August 12 after resuscitation efforts failed.

Vieira claimed that the hospital where Gaspar was treated did not have an intensive care unit (ICU) or an ambulance available to transfer her to another facility. The hospital has stated that Gaspar received immediate emergency care and that pre-operative evaluations were conducted externally.

The Public Ministry of Goiás has requested a police investigation into Gaspar's death.

This case follows the recent death of Brazilian influencer Marta Kelly, 33, who also died after undergoing cosmetic surgery. Kelly had a "three-in-one" procedure including liposuction, breast implants, and a tummy tuck. She was discharged a day after surgery but returned to the hospital with illness and died on August 17. Details surrounding the circumstances and cause of her death have not been fully disclosed by her husband, Marcus Vinicius.
