Maria Eduarda Alves, a Brazilian TikTok influencer widely known as Duda Alves, has died at the age of 22. Her passing occurred just weeks after she underwent breast reduction surgery. Alves had amassed a following of over 762,000 users on TikTok, where she gained popularity for her comedic videos expressing frustrations with everyday annoyances, earning her the online moniker 'the girl who hates everything.'
Fellow TikTok personality Clarissa Pavie confirmed Alves' death on Sunday, sharing a heartfelt tribute that described Alves not only by her online persona but also as a person of "calm, authenticity with a hint of acid humor." Pavie lauded Alves as the "most fair and kind person she ever met," emphasizing her "extravagant" inner beauty and expressing gratitude for their friendship.
Alves had shared on social media about undergoing breast reduction surgery in the weeks leading up to her death. Local police are investigating the circumstances surrounding her passing. However, authorities have not yet established any connection between the surgery and her death, according to reports. An official cause of death has not been publicly disclosed.
Her final video, posted on September 10, reportedly addressed some of the negative comments she received following her procedure. This incident follows the recent death of another Brazilian influencer, Marta Kelly, who passed away at age 33 after undergoing a comprehensive cosmetic surgery procedure.
Kelly, who had over 500,000 followers across TikTok and Instagram, often shared fashion content and documented her life as a mother of three. Her husband announced her death in late August, stating she had "lost the battle" after a prolonged fight. Reports indicate Kelly underwent a "three-in-one" procedure on August 12, which included liposuction, breast implants, and a tummy tuck. She was discharged the following day but was hospitalized again on August 14 after becoming unwell, and she passed away on August 17. The specific cause of her death has not been revealed.
