A physical altercation involving an Uber Eats driver and staff members occurred at the Barstool Sports headquarters in New York City on August 24, 2026. The incident, which was captured on security and cell phone footage, reportedly began as a dispute over a food order and led to the arrest of the delivery driver.
Footage shared by Barstool founder Dave Portnoy shows the driver, identifiable by a motorcycle helmet and backpack, wrestling with an individual near the office elevators. According to Portnoy, the situation escalated when the driver allegedly attacked a security guard who intervened after an initial argument with a female staff member over her order. "Our security guard Dan went into the hall to tell the guy to leave and he attacked him," Portnoy stated on social media.
The video depicts the driver engaging in a physical struggle, dragging the security guard and appearing to strike him. Onlookers are heard urging for the violence to stop and for 911 to be called. Several other Barstool employees intervened, separating the driver from the security guard and restraining him against a wall. The driver is heard exclaiming, "He did it first!"
Portnoy also shared security camera footage that he claims shows the beginning of the confrontation. He humorously pointed out one staff member, identified as content creator Tom Scibelli, who initially appeared to hesitate before joining the group that subdued the driver. Portnoy also made a sarcastic remark about New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani in relation to the incident.
Following the altercation, Portnoy confirmed that the office was secured and that the New York City Police Department responded and arrested the Uber Eats driver. He noted that the security guard might require medical attention.
