Despite a difficult outing in the San Francisco 49ers' recent 29-20 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, wide receiver Brandin Cooks is utilizing his bye week by taking to the air. Cooks posted a video on his Instagram Story showing him preparing for takeoff in a plane over the Bay Area.
The video was shared on X by the account @Coach_Yac, who stated their intention was to gauge the responses. The reactions to Cooks piloting a plane were largely critical. One user on X, @gv49ers, commented, "Surprised he didn’t run into another plane on the runway…" Another user, @Jhin345, posted, "Fly that s— out of the bay he sucks."
A single comment from @Earthpigs23A offered a lighter perspective, with the user admitting they were joking and stating, "I hope he waited for air trafficking control to tell him to take off 🤣 I’m just kidding, it’s cool seeing players lives and what they do outside of football."
In the recent game against the Falcons, Cooks was present for 45 snaps but did not record a single target. Instead, second-year receiver Jordan Watkins had a notable performance with three receptions for 56 yards from six targets. Watkins nearly scored his first career touchdown late in the fourth quarter, but his foot landed out of bounds upon making a leaping catch in the end zone.
Cooks, a 13-year veteran, is in his first season with the 49ers. He was signed to the team's practice squad in September and subsequently promoted to the active roster. Cooks previously expressed that joining the 49ers, a team he supported as a child growing up in Stockton, was a lifelong dream.
