Brandi Glanville to Undergo Surgery Amid Facial Disfigurement Battle
The reality star hopes surgery will identify the cause of her four-year health struggle, which she believes is a 'facial parasite.'
Brandi Glanville, a personality known for her role in "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills," announced she is scheduled for exploratory surgery later this month to investigate a persistent facial disfigurement. Glanville, 53, revealed on her podcast, "Brandi Glanville Unfiltered," that she fears a "fungus" or "some sort of worm living in [her] face."
"Something is in my face, eating it," Glanville stated, expressing both fear and excitement about the upcoming procedure. This surgery comes after four years and an estimated $113,000 spent on treatments for what she suspects is a "facial parasite."
Her recent medical diagnoses include "highly resistant ESBL Klebsiella and Enterobacter with biofilm, Coccidioidomycosis (Valley Fever), Demodex dermatitis and Mononucleosis." Glanville explained that the surgical approach will involve inserting "balloons" into her Eustachian tubes to explore the facial channels connecting the ear to the nose and upper throat, aiming to clear blockages and allow drainage.
"They're going to clear that out so everything can drain," she explained. "I'm pretty sure there's some sort of worm living in my face but they said it's a fungus." She added that the condition appears to be spreading down her body.
Glanville described the ongoing physical changes, noting that she recently told a doctor, "I don't feel like my neck is a part of my body." She compared her appearance on "Special Forces" to having "a thick neck with a Beetlejuice head," indicating a significant and concerning transformation.
Amid her health crisis, Glanville has received support from fellow reality television figures. A GoFundMe page was established to assist with treatment costs, and some "Real Housewives" cast members have offered financial aid and medical advice. Notably, former castmate Yolanda Hadid has provided guidance and connected Glanville with doctors, despite their past public disagreements.
"Yolanda's been very helpful, and she's hooked me up with some doctors," Glanville previously shared. She acknowledged the financial burden, stating, "It's just spending, spending, spending. If I had her bank account, it would be different."
Glanville expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support, stating in September, "I'm honestly overwhelmed by all the love and support." She recognized the difficulty of asking for help but found solace in the backing from her community. "Knowing I have so many people in my corner means more than I can ever explain," she said. "I still have a long road ahead, but you're helping me keep fighting."
