Brandi Glanville, a personality known for her role on "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills," has disclosed a series of complex medical diagnoses as she prepares for facial surgery to remove a fungal ball.
Glanville, 53, shared details of her ongoing health struggles on Instagram, stating she has been diagnosed with highly resistant ESBL Klebsiella and Enterobacter with biofilm, Coccidioidomycosis (Valley Fever), Demodex dermatitis, and Mononucleosis. The reality star is also slated to have the fungal ball removed from her face, as well as metals from old dental work and her breast implants removed. She anticipates a challenging recovery period of four to six months, involving daily IV treatments.
According to the National Library of Medicine, the presence of biofilm in ESBL-producing bacteria like Klebsiella and Enterobacter can increase antibiotic resistance, complicating treatment. Coccidioidomycosis, commonly known as Valley Fever, is a fungal infection originating from soil in certain U.S. regions, primarily affecting the lungs, as noted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Demodex dermatitis is a skin condition caused by an overpopulation of facial mites that reside in hair follicles. Cleveland Clinic indicates that rapid mite multiplication, particularly in immunocompromised individuals, can lead to skin irritation and itching. Mononucleosis, also known as the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), is an infectious disease that spreads through bodily fluids and can manifest symptoms such as fatigue, fever, sore throat, rash, and swollen lymph nodes, according to the CDC.
Glanville described the treatment process as arduous, with minimal improvement thus far. She expressed concerns about her ability to work, other than her podcast, and the financial strain of ongoing medical expenses, estimated between $3,300 and $6,000 per month. She shared videos of her facial disfigurement and a lump on her face, stating her desire to regain her health and well-being.
Previously, Glanville had alluded to her condition being related to a facial parasite and had publicly addressed her disfigurement in 2024, initially attributing the stress-induced issues to Bravo. In June, she announced a diagnosis of a benign facial tumor after incurring significant medical costs.
