Former "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Brandi Glanville has publicly shared her emotional struggle with a costly monthly treatment regimen for facial disfigurement, revealing the financial strain has become overwhelming. Glanville, 53, recently disclosed her diagnoses after years of unexplained health issues. She is being treated for antibiotic-resistant bacteria (ESBL Klebsiella and Enterobacter), a fungal infection (Coccidioidomycosis), Demodex dermatitis, and Mononucleosis.
During a recent episode of her podcast, "Brandi Glanville Unfiltered," the reality star tearfully described her daily medical routine and its significant cost. Glanville stated that even with insurance, her medications amount to $7,000 per week, with an additional $4,000 per week for IV treatments, totaling approximately $16,000 per month. She expressed embarrassment about her financial situation, particularly as creditors contact her daily.
Her friend Gina Rodriguez initiated a GoFundMe campaign to support Glanville's medical expenses. The crowdfunding page highlights the financial burden, noting that Glanville has multiple procedures and surgeries ahead, including the removal of a fungal ball from her face, old dental work, and breast implants, as recommended by her doctors. The description states that Glanville, who is described as independent and not one to ask for help, faces an uncertain financial future to cover four to six months of ongoing treatment.
Glanville explained that a typical treatment day involves hydration IVs, followed by a potent antifungal treatment called amphotericin, and an extended 17-hour IV antibiotic course, which she must carry with her. She mentioned that doctors will reassess her condition in three to four months to determine the next steps. Glanville has been dealing with her facial issues for over three years and has previously indicated spending substantial amounts on various treatments.
As of September 17, the GoFundMe had raised over $19,000. Glanville admitted that she is currently unable to work and feels like a "loser" due to her health challenges and the need for external financial assistance. She also conveyed a desire for surgical intervention, stating, "I just want someone to cut my face open, honestly."
