Vivienne Jolie-Pitt, 18, is proceeding with her petition to legally drop actor Brad Pitt's surname, publishing a notice of her intent in The Los Angeles Daily Journal. The notice, obtained by TMZ, indicates her intention to change her name from Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie. This action aligns with steps taken by several of her older siblings to remove Pitt from their legal names.

The newspaper ad is a standard legal procedure required before a court can approve a name change. Vivienne published the notice weekly from July 24 to August 14. The court will consider any objections before a final hearing on November 2. A judge can grant the request if no opposition is filed.

Vivienne's petition, filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, cites 'personal' reasons for the name change. A source close to her mother, Angelina Jolie, told People that Jolie is seeking "everyone to heal" and believes the children's discretion in not speaking publicly about their issues shows "their decency."

This is not the first time Vivienne has publicly separated her name from her father's. In May 2024, she was listed as Vivienne Jolie in the Playbill program for the Broadway production of "The Outsiders," where she served as a producer alongside her mother. She is the youngest of Pitt and Jolie's six children, born in 2008 alongside her twin brother, Knox.

Vivienne's petition follows similar actions by her siblings. In June and July, advertisements were published for Zahara Jolie-Pitt, 21, and Maddox Jolie-Pitt, 25, who are also seeking to legally change their names to Zahara Marley Jolie and Maddox Chivan Jolie, respectively. Zahara's hearing is scheduled for September 28, while Maddox's is on September 14. Both filings also adhered to California's requirement of publishing an Order to Show Cause in a newspaper for four consecutive weeks prior to their court dates.

Zahara had previously dropped the Pitt surname three years ago when she joined a sorority at Spelman College and used the name Zahara Marley Jolie at her graduation ceremony. Maddox filed to drop the surname in late May.

Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, 20, legally changed her name to Shiloh Jolie last year. Her lawyer stated at the time that the decision was "independent and significant" following "painful events."

Information regarding Pitt's relationship with his son Pax, 22, suggests it remains strained, with the younger sibling having previously referred to his father with strong negative language. It is unclear if Pax has formally initiated a name change.

A source close to Pitt told the Daily Mail that the actor views the rift with his children as "deeply painful" and believes Jolie played a role in how events unfolded. Conversely, sources close to Jolie have stated that Pitt "continues to play the victim" and that his fractured relationships are a "direct result of how he has treated them."

Pitt and Jolie, who were once a prominent Hollywood couple, finalized their divorce in 2024 after a protracted legal battle that began in 2016. Pitt is currently dating jewelry designer Ines de Ramon.
