At 62, Brad Pitt is embracing a significant style transformation, moving away from his signature 90s heart-throb aesthetic towards a more colorful and oversized wardrobe. This shift has garnered attention, with recent looks including a striking blue velvet blazer, tie-dye bottoms, and bright yellow trainers. Pitt has reportedly enlisted the help of stylist Taylor McNeil, known for working with Timothée Chalamet.

Pitt's girlfriend since 2022, jewelry designer Ines de Ramon, may also be influencing his fashion evolution. Photos have shown the actor wearing rings and bracelets, accessories not typically associated with his previous style. However, psychologist Phil Macleod suggests that these changes could also be a response to personal difficulties the actor has faced.

"To me, as a psychologist, this signals a possible desire for reinvention and a way of taking back control of his identity after his recent reported troubles and struggles with his private life," Macleod stated. Pitt's eight-year divorce from Angelina Jolie, which concluded in 2024, was accompanied by abuse allegations from Jolie, which Pitt has denied and which did not result in criminal charges. The situation has reportedly led to strained relationships with his children, with some sources indicating limited contact.

Macleod explained that altering one's outward appearance can be a powerful tool for psychological change. "Changing your outward appearance can help a person reconnect with their old self and regain a sense of confidence, freedom and a new mindset," he said. "It's something they can take control of when other areas of their life may feel beyond their control."

Further contributing to this interpretation is Pitt's recent revelation that he has begun drinking again, following a period of sobriety that lasted 18 months after his 2016 split from Jolie. Macleod views this return to drinking, alongside his new fashion outlook, as a potential signal for renewal. "There could also be an element of wanting to recapture his youth, but not necessarily to look younger, I would assume it to be reconnecting with a time in his life when things may have felt happier, simpler and less complicated and more in control," Macleod commented.

While the precise motivations remain private, Pitt's evolving wardrobe appears to be more than a simple change of clothes; it may signify a deeper personal journey of self-discovery and reclamation of control.
