Nathaniel Rai, 10, recounted the frightening moments that led to his rescue by a teenage lifeguard after being pulled into the surf at Seabright Beach in Santa Cruz, California. Nathaniel stated that an adult, whose identity he did not disclose, encouraged him to enter the water despite his apprehension about the large waves.

"She told me I could swim in the water, and I told her I didn’t want to because the waves were too big," Nathaniel said in an interview. "So I just stayed on the shore."

Despite his efforts to remain on land, Nathaniel was swept into the ocean. "I tripped and then I got pulled," he explained.

On July 25, Nathaniel was caught in rip currents and pulled out to sea. He was ultimately rescued by 16-year-old lifeguard Ryder Williams. The incident highlights the dangers of ocean conditions and the swift actions of lifeguards.

Nathaniel's father, Sumit Rai, and Nathaniel spoke about the rescue, emphasizing the potential dangers of the surf. The rescue occurred amidst challenging ocean conditions, underscoring the importance of lifeguard presence and vigilance.
