Boy Hospitalized After Dog Allegedly Attacks Him
Police are seeking a woman and her German Shepherd in connection with the incident.
A one-year-old boy was taken to the hospital after sustaining facial injuries and puncture wounds when a dog allegedly lunged at his pushchair. The incident occurred around 3:20 p.m. at Shirley Precinct in Southampton. The dog is reported to have made contact with the boy's face.
The child suffered two small puncture wounds and grazes. Police have released CCTV images of a woman and a dog, believed to be a German Shepherd, that they wish to speak with as part of their investigation. The woman is described as white, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, and of a large build. The dog was reportedly wearing a soft mesh muzzle.
A statement from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary indicated that officers are working to determine the exact circumstances of the event. They are appealing for the public's assistance in identifying the woman, asking anyone with information to contact them by calling 101 and referencing case number 44260407684. Witnesses or individuals with any relevant information are also encouraged to come forward.
